I wouldn't be surprised if most young people actually are alienated by both parties. That could explain why they hardly vote

Total nonsense. Che shirts, Communist flags and burning of the American flag are routine at today's Leftist protests. JFK wouldn't recognize the Democratic Party today.

And there is nothing "far" right about insisting that the federal government is too large and too expensive and should stick to its Constitutional obligations and not much more. It's exactly what the Founders expected.

You're on to something there. Which is why Bernie was such a force. That movement is still there, and is not going away.

Tolerant liberal, right?
Making an entire post complaining about liberal college philosophy makes the conservatives look just as intolerant as they claim the liberals to be. You guys can't stand it if someone has different ideas than you.

People are entitled to have liberal ideas. You won't suppress them. In this country people have the right to have whatever ideas they see fit to have. And no amount of whining and crying from knuckle dragging conservatives will ever change that.

Don't like colleges that are majority liberal? Then don't go. Don't send your kids there. You are free to send them to any conservative school you like. Stop being cry babies and grow up. The world doesn't revolve around you. You need to get used to that because it ain't changing anytime soon.

The crazy, politically correct, cultural Marxist leftists will never turn me into a conservative. No siree.

I'm a proud libertarian who lies in the centre of the political spectrum. And I will stay that way.

You know, this article can make a case for these new "conservatives" being, in reality, what used to be known as liberals back in the 60s. It says that today's "liberals" have taken to censoring, belittling, and ultimately shutting down free speech. In the 60s liberals were fighting the conservative establishment whom they felt were the perpetrators of this censorship.

What the OP is referring to is actually the re-emergence of the true liberal spirit. I think maybe today's college "liberals" aren't liberal at all. They are unwittingly exhibiting traditional conservative behaviors. Millennials overwhelmingly support free college tuition, universal healthcare, and other ideas that are inherently liberal and now are once again fighting threats to free speech. I think PullMyFinger is praising developments that are actually opposite of his philosophy without even realizing it. Fascinating to say the least.

The crazies on the left are the best recruiting tool for Republicans and Libertarians, hahaha!

Today's college "liberals" aren't liberal. They're anti-capitalists and communists.

At this point, it doesn't appear that my kids are going to be very conservative on the social issues. After this last election, they do however now detest the left. Detest may not even be a strong enough word. It will be interesting to see how they turn out. Who knows, maybe they will be independents.

The left should ask itself if there are unintended consequences to their actions, because there always is. One should strive to convince others with good articulation, not force an ideology down people's throats. Reminiscent of religious fanatics, the left, aren't they?
