What is the "general consensus" around here? It's "one of those" pesky insomnia nights, so I thought I'd take a poll on this to pass the time while I lay here in bed with my phone etc

Here's my 2 cents on this topic:

Overall P&OC "community" - Now, I haven't been here all that long, but I *do* notice that the anti-Leftist/controversial/"popular" threads tend to get a LOT of hits (from triggered Leftists/Liberals). On the other hand, the anti-conservative threads do not seem to garner anywhere near the same "response level" as the above mentioned anti-leftist threads.

Indeed, the Liberals/leftists are QUICK to "pounce" on a thread they do not like, easily posting 10-15 hostile/anti-OPie replies in under 10 mins like a cloud of angry bees. From these simple observations we can deduce that it *seems* there are "generally" more Liberals on the P&OC board than conservatives.

Then again, it's entirely possible that conservatives simply have better things to do than argue with Leftists on internet forums, are busy working a job, or actually have lives, etc. This is a possible alternative explanation for the apparent "Liberal dominance" of the P&OC forum. For example, Conservative/right-wing types are more likely to have jobs to attend to, but Leftists are more likely to not be working/on welfare and thus have the free time to sip Starbucks and argue or whinge on the internet.

I notice many of these Liberals will engage in "hive mind" behavior as well. For example whenever a "big story" involving Trump breaks, the Liberals have 6-8 concurrent threads on it up almost immediately

Anyways, that's been my observations, if I had to pick I would say it's "mainly" a Leftists/Liberals dominant board but I haven't been here very long so perhaps you old-timers can chime in here

I think it's a good cross section. I think the online poll of CD had Obama winning in 2012 and Trump in 2016 so close to the national norm.

That's a 9.5 on the old passive-aggressive scale.

It was mainly liberal until sometime around November 8th. Then a bunch of the liberals mysteriously disappeared.

Mostly Americans, which makes the debates boring. The liberal versus conservative thing is so lame.

I've been here for nearly 8 years. This site definitely trends conservative.

wow, what a totally reliable, unbiased perspective.

This forum is overwhelmingly conservative. It is mostly angry seniors from flyover states posting gibberish. The typical P&OC poster has a tenuous grasp on reality, has been watching fake news on TV for 20 years, and shows up periodically to start a new, rambling anti-left thread which he/she never returns to.

Take for instance the thread I saw this morning. It was ostensibly about some obscure Canadian legislative resolution, which did nothing, and basically said "plz be nice to the muslims." Some of our resident right-wing posters decided to use the thread as a sort of 1984-style "Two Minutes of Hate" towards Islam. 3 pages in and nobody has said a word about the law in question.

It's fairly well balanced.

The libs just make a lot more noise here -- just as they do everywhere.

Maybe a slight lean right overall. But this forum definitely attracts many fringe political ideologies. I voted pretty even because the far right and far left balance each other.
