You forgot to back up your bold words with anything but your opinion.

It is fake news as print media has been struggling for a decade with the rise of the internet and changing advertising landscape. Every paper large and small has been consolidating, laying off or folding no matter how they lean. They are also closing news bureaus, eliminating photographers and editors and cutting costs alll over the place.

NYT is doing a good job compared to its peers for monetizing in the social media age.

It is sad because everyone is just republishing the stories from the AP, and we have less coverage and less options now. NYT is one of few full service outlets left.

I think it's sad to celebrate the decline of a business. Lost jobs and all that.

Not when a business operates in such an ethical manner.

Indeed. The facts are there. The NY Times is failing from a financial standpoint. Will be interesting to see how soon they will need another cash infusion from Mexico.

Actually that is what you have done in this topic.

Anyone can look up their financial statement. It was included in the OP. Their business model is unsustainable. They are failing.

Old Gringo: You must have been living in a closet for the last 20 years. You know newspapers have been on the decline. Everyone knows this.

Let's talk about the truth in newspaper sales: The debut of NYTimes.com sent a clear signal that newspapers were ready to enlist in the digital revolution.Fast-forward to 2016, and the newspaper business is a shell of its former self. Far from cutting newsprint and delivery costs, newspapers remain utterly reliant on their shrunken print editions for most of their revenues.

Not only do newspapers remain tethered to 20th-century industrial processes such as massive printing presses, tons of paper, and fleets of delivery trucks, but efforts to develop new sources of digital revenue have largely come to naught.

Craigslist came up with a new model for classified ads—free—with which newspapers could not compete. And there went 40 percent of the ad revenue.

If it's true, it's hardly unique to the Times. Most every newspaper is. It has nothing to do with being liberal, but the fact that print journalism is a dying industry.
