The term 'alt' is short for alternative, not extremists... something I thought was obvious. The alt-right is meant to be an alternative to mainstream conservatism. While alternatives to mainstream liberalism exist, they're either just not represented anywhere or aren't actually radically different from mainstream liberalism.
Alt Right is a way to disguise extreme racism and beliefs of cultural superiority. There is no Left that preaches these evils.
