Applauding the breakup of the Soviet Union has now come back to haunt us!
The hypocrisy! It was celebratory to cheer on the breakup of the Soviet Union, and now Putin, who rules over a dying country with a too low fertility rate and not enough manpower for their military, wants to give California a hand!
I'm all for it, Russian war ships off the CA coast in case the Feds decide to stop CA from seceding!

Not only "cheering," but facilitating the process, as devastating as it was for millions of Soviet citizens, with dire consequences for economy and terrible hardship that followed because of it.

The leader of California secession campaign has decided that he would like to live in Russia permanently, and is therefore abandoning his efforts to make the Golden State its own country.
In a lengthy statement Monday, Louis Marinelli, president of the separatist group Yes California, announced he was withdrawing his petition for a referendum on secession. Instead, he plans to apply to be a live permanently in Russia, where he currently resides.

Farewell Snowflake!
"Throughout this campaign, I have been primarily motivated by a personal struggle I have had with the United States government since 2012. That personal struggle revolved around the immigration status of my wife, a foreign national who I brought to the United States to live believing at the time that it was the best country in the world. For years, our marriage suffered as politicians in Washington argued and bickered about immigration reform while the American people expressed their anti-immigrant xenophobia."
"I have found in Russia a new happiness, a life without the albatross of frustration and resentment towards ones’ homeland, and a future detached from the partisan divisions and animosity that has thus far engulfed my entire adult life"
