I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. As a result of the war, corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands, and the Republic is destroyed. I feel at this moment more anxiety for the safety of my country than ever before, even in the midst of war. _____ Abraham Lincoln
How many people felt this way when they announced their hiring initiative of veterans?
This just goes to show how stupid people are IMO. Most of the places where refugees were going to hired were not even in this country.
I think you're mixing apples and oranges. Hiring American citizens regardless if they are veterans or not isn't, or let me rephrase that, shouldn't be political. And if one wants to make hiring vets political, ok, fine, it's political.....but it shouldn't be controversial....it's just hiring American citizens for a certain job. For refugees, in countries that the admin and fbi said we can't possibly vet in many cases and therefore is a potential security risk to our nation and a company comes along and takes the view that starbucks took, it's obvious to me that would get many American's concerned and this is the public backlash a company takes on such matters.
So as I said before, if one wants to play politics with policy, the place for this shouldn't come from a company, let alone backed by the ceo. The ceo should run for office if they want to play politics or run the company and fulfill the primary role of this job......make money for shareholders, not scare customers away like in this case. This is a pathetic way to run a business and now we see the result.
Pretty much. Even McDonald's makes a better cup of coffee that Starbucks. Leave the politics alone and quit making crappy coffee that costs a fortune.
