There are not any bright spots, that's for sure. The American low information voting public has proven that they can't govern themselves. As illustrated by the s***show of an election we had last fall.
We need practical centrists not right wing nationalists like Trump, or bureaucrats like Clinton. People that actually know how to get things done in the real world. People that know how to compromise to achieve something worthwhile. People that are not constrained by dogma or partisan foolishness. The few centrists in the two parties that are actually useful are drowned out by the populists on the Right and the bureaucrats on the Left.
Don't see it happening anytime soon. The days where we had a functional republic are gone, at least in the near term.
