I think we need a new sub-forum on this site. Lets call it:
It's Gw's Fault!!
Why bother stating the obvious? If it isn't GW's fault then it is Clinton's fault, all depends on your side of the fence.
As a person who has to read or look over as many of these threads in this area of the forum, I can say with some certainty that nearly 90% of all posts boil down to either of these two men as being the blame.
So, between Clinton and GW Bush, both of whom according to 99% of the people on this forum are responsible for all our ills, then one must ask, who put them into office in the first place then?
My conclusion, the government we have is a direct reflection of its base, those who put them into office. So while everyone is once again externalizing their blame, the people are in fact the largest share holders of the blame stock. Of course no one will admit they are wrong, so the blame game and partisanship continues... have at it people.

Every President since the gas lines of the '70s should have been doing something to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and every American should have been insistent that it be done. We're all guilty of failing to address a very predictable problem and wie'll now be paying the price.
Far be it from me to defend Bush & Co., I think it will take the country years to recover from his misleadership, but he gets a pass on this one.
It's documented that plenty of people who couldn't afford houses were tricked into it by predatory lenders. If the industry would have been better regulated, we wouldn't be in this position, or at least not as bad. Crooked lenders took advantage of people who didn't know what they were doing.

I'm sorry, but that's nonsense. Haven't you ever closed on a house? You sit in a room with a closing attorney, who explains every detail of the loan ad nauseum. So if you got a 4.5% ARM, you had it explained to you in explicit, real-dollar terms what would happen if interest rates rose to, say, 6.5%.
The truth of the matter is that a lot of people rolled the dice and got either ARMs or Interest-Only loans a few years ago, and used them to buy far more house than they could truly afford. I remember friends doing that, and thinking, "What the heck are they going to do when rates go back up?" You might as well say that Nike takes advantage of people for charging $150 for a pair of sneakers.
As far as gas mileage goes, why not blame Clinton? Heck, gas was under a dollar during his administration. He could have done something about the incredibly low price of gas. What's more, gas at $4 a gallon, when you take inflation into account is not far off from past historical highs. And, guess what? The market responds far more efficiently than any government program. Right now, the loneliest man on the planet is a salesman at a Hummer dealership.

You see this is why it is just easier to blame a shadowy cabal of Jews, Freemasons, and Big Sugar.

Can you show that documentation? The people that signed their names signed them on the bottom of a document that spells out the terms.
By the way, banks used to not make loans to buyers that were not qualified. Community groups complained that the loan practices were discriminatory beginning under the Carter administration. The banks were forced to start making loans to people with lower income. Programs were developed for that and now the same people complain that the banks are at fault for people not being able to make their payments.

What did Clinton/Gore do? There are incentives in place.
Is this the America you want? A land where people can't afford to see their doctor or dentist, foreclosures and bankrupcies everywhere, the government listening and watching your every move, bridges, roads and water systems crumbling, no jobs except those paying a minimal wage, torture encouraged, huge sums of taxpayer money used to kill hundreds of thousands of civillians and develop exotic weapons like a 'ray-gun' that will microwave you from miles away. Yes, this is the Republican version of America, brought to you by Bush/Cheney, and to be continued by McCain, until there is nothing left but the rich and the poor.
Call it what you want but neither Bush nor McCain should be considered republican. Theyre as liberal as the day is long.
If you dont like the cost of living here look to the libs that tax the working man to pay for the dead beats & give rights to illegal immigration.
The days when Rep & Dem meant Conservative & liberal respectively are gone. They are all liberal now.
That said I'm an uneducated conservative blue collar worker & have never had one iota of trouble finding gainfull employment.
We live in a country where people sneak in & find work when they cant even speak the language. If theyre more employable than you look in the mirror cuz your to blame.
The Gov't doesn't owe us anything & asking it for more just makes it cost more. So if you think its expensive, look in the mirror again.
