Hmmm, well, I am just not that worried about it. Perhaps we can save some funds used for business travel. Little trips that are more of a boondoggle than accomplish anything that adds to the bottom line.

You know, the 10 day trip to Europe that actually results in two business meeting of about two hours each...to ah, hmmm, build said "business relationships"

You can accomplish that mission on Skype or any other go to meeting type avenue

Good, I have an excuse to avoid business travel to Europe...and stay home more

More time for the gym and golf....plane travel has turned into a pure pain in the rump anyway.

EU will not impose visa on the US. They do not have any leverage. It would hurt European businesses. Americans could easily suspend Visa Waiver Program for all EU countries.

Honestly. I'd loved to be able to travel visa free to the Kamchatka Peninsula. It looks awesome!!!!!

Actually, the suggestion on the table is essentially a EU version of the ESTA system that the US uses for its "visa-free" travel.

Well the topic of the thread is about ending visa-free travel, unless the OP confused the proposed ETIAS for the Schengen zone with ending visa-free travel.

That's really, really economically stupid on their part.

The UK will get rid of any such restrictions on the US after Brexit, and more countries could consider having a vote to leave if the right candidates gain power in up and coming elections.

Strange that the EU have plans for Visa restrictions with America, yet just let Muslim Immigrants come and live in the EU without any real chacks.

The EU has also always been protectionist when it comes to trade, and there has been numerous trade disputes between the EU and US over the years. The curent US trade advisers to Trump have recently accused Germany of using a “grossly undervalued” euro to gain economic advantage over the United States, whilst certain US Agricultural produce remains banned throughout the EU.

So nothing is certain as yet.

I'm disappointed. I was hoping for a Trade War with Europe. I have a feeling the EU will back down. They are pansies, but they're not suicidal.

Trade war with the US over web browser, Android with Microsoft, Google, more recently with Apple over tax breaks in Ireland.

At the same time not firm to fight Russia over overpriced oil and natural gas imports from them or diversify the market to lessen dependence on imports from the east.

On side note, I don't believe in any conspiracy theories of the current administration, especially over the recent outrageous claim over wire tapping to distract the public from unraveling news about this administration's association with Russian officials.
