Young people always start out liberal. But once you work for a living, own property, a car, pay taxes, have kids... once you grow up..... you become republican. Low information voters remain democrats.
Most of us start out leaning liberal but not nearly as extreme as today liberals. We start out leaning liberal because we don't understand the world yet. Once you work steadily, pay taxes, have kids, mortgages, have to be responsible you become more conservative as you mature.
When a baby is born that child is the center of his or her own universe (human nature). As the baby grows, they continue to be self centered even as they age into being a teenager. As they become more aware and responsible they learn that life is full of challenges, some people prepare other don't. Each enjoy or suffer the consequence of their decision.
Some people who remain liberal are typically people who are suffering consequences for not planning and working for a better future and they look to the outside world to survive. They desperately want the world to be as they believe "it should be" not the way it is. Hollywood liberals are the center of their own universe. They thrive on attention, they have not gotten past being all about themselves. Just as a child or even a teenager tends to be self-centered for liberals it's all about them and what they want.

That is true. There is a lot that goes into the make up of a persons views. If a child is raised in a conservative house where the parents are responsible and the children are given and expected to have more responsibility as the get older, they will tend to have more conservative views.
If a child is raised in a liberal household, parents believe in a world of should's and the parents have no issue with irresponsibility because someone will always help them, they'll probably carry that same attitude with them as they age.

Ultimately, that. Young people grow up and take on the responsibilities of adults. Just like every generation before them.
The Classic Liberal (18th century) supported ideas such as free and fair elections, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, free trade, and a right to life, liberty, and private property ownership.
The New Liberal (21st century) supported ideas such as social justice, expropriation of property for the benefit of the needy, compelled labor for the benefit of another, and government management of the economy. Those ideas are contrary to classical liberalism, and are an assault upon absolute ownership of private property, natural and personal liberty and the freedom to exercise same.

Deep down inside, most, if not all Americans believe that it’s a good thing to have Creator endowed rights to life, liberty and the absolute ownership of private property upon which one can pursue happiness without permission of another. Yet Americans also believe that they’re obligated to perform mandatory civic duties, get permissions and licenses, and pay taxes levied on their ownership of lands and houses, their labor, and their retail transactions, to name but a few.
A conservative is a liberal who hasn't suffered yet.
Wrong... I've suffered when I was young and stupid. The difference between me and a liberal is I didn't point fingers every which way to blame everyone else, I didn't feel that someone else should bail me out. I admitted to the mistakes I made, paid the consequences, worked hard to make it right. In other words, I learned about the world and grew up... became conservative.
