Dave Letterman used to be a real funny guy on late night TV, but in the last few years had become a bitter curmudgeon. These hosts that are on now are not even worth my time.
Makes me long for CBS to bring back "The CBS Late Movie".....
Trump lovers can dismiss Letterman any way they want, but the fact is, this man was a late night icon for 33 years, and went out on his own schedule, not being pushed out. He was still on top till the very last show.
As for the beard, he is like the guy who retires after working in a 3 piece suit for 30 years, and he stops shaving because it feels great to not have to do it any more. After all, he is Dave Letterman, and can do whatever the Hell he wants.
He also knows Donald Trump very well from all those years. He knows that Trump is a crackpot and a joke. But, we already knew that for ourselves.
Had you read the interview, Letterman has done a better job of owning up to his indiscretion than Trump has hawking Chinese ties.
I read the interview and much of it was a ranting diatribe.
Trump certainly has flaws and instead of rationally addressing them Letterman kinda went all left-wing-new-birther.
Now sure, YOU might read it and feel good about it (read the thread title after all) but did Letterman actually influence any independents? I'm not so sure.
RWNJ's the last 8 years never learned the lesson that crazy rants never get traction but it made them feel good.
It's a measure of intelligence to recognize how to craft points that appeal not to your ego but to people that don't share your fervor.
Most famous people don't have that ability due to ego and hubris.
