The President helped build a hotel in Azerbaijan that appears to be a corrupt operation engineered by oligarchs tied to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. Strange but the hotel that Trump was partnered in, Trump Tower Baku was miles away from the Caspian Sea waterfront and there was no easy road access.
It's a long complicated story but you have everything in this, Russian Oligarchs, Iran's Revolutionary Guard, WikiLeaks, Trump, a crooked foreign leader.
Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977 was passed to prevent US companies from rewarding foreign government officials with direct material benefits but it sure appears that was the case. Trump is on record in 2012 indicating they need to do away with the law "every country goes into these places and they do what they have to do".
Some of the things that jump off the page is Zia Mammadov, the Azerbaijan Transportation Minister had a salary of around $12,000 but he is now a billionaire. A US construction firm Bechtel met with Mammadov and offered to build several roads at a cost of $6M per kilometer but Mammadov indicated that was too high. Instead they ended up awarding a contract to a firm called Azarpassillo at a cost of $18M per kilometer making it one of the most expensive in the world.
I would love to see Trumps books on this.
