Interesting example:

According to an example provided by the CBO, a 64-year-old who earns $26,500 a year would see her premiums increase from $1,700 to $14,600.

GOP lawmaker says she'll vote no on ObamaCare repeal bill | TheHill

This is so poetic.

I'd call this whole mess tragic and wonder how Ryan and his right wing free market colleagues sleep at night, knowing this bill is a death sentence for millions of people.

This also shows Trump is nothing more than a useful idiot doing the bidding of these knukledraggers.

The whole thing is a black mark on our Country.

BO never looked so good!

Funny thing about Ryan, who consistantly bashes government, is a product of government. The guy never worked any meaningful private sector job ever. A government baby all the way....And we the people have paid his way. A matter of fact, it seems many of these hacks never got their hands dirty at all. Got the other poor dumb SOBs to do the dirty work for them......but not for long.

This Republican triumph of ideology over sense hopefully will result in a Democratic Congress in a couple of years. Go ahead and kill health care financing for the poor and you will really reap what you have sown.

That's what should happen, but time and time again the poor vote against their own interests. They vote for someone with charisma; a cowboy, a bada$$, a rich person, because they think that one day that could be them and they identify with it no matter how bad they are getting screwed.

Maybe, but it depends on if poor people start voting. I mean that sincerely. They need to check every box, (ID, etc.) and start voting because Republicans will do everything they can to prevent it. Yes, TrumpCare will hurt the poor, the elderly and the working class but they can only fight back by voting. Until then, I'm going to watch the circus play out because these Trump supporters deserve what will happen to them, after all, they voted for it.

It's even worse than that. Ryan received government assistance after his father died when he was a teenager, enough to put himself through college on. So he certainly was not adverse to taking a government handout when he needed it. But he wants to pull the ladder up behind him and make sure no one else gets what he got.

When he was asked about the massive number of people who would lose insurance his response was it was all about freedom. "‘We’re going to have a free market, and you buy what you want to buy." Notice he never actually answered the question regarding people who want to buy, but are priced out of the market. Because quite frankly, he doesn't give a crap about us.

He is the lowest form of slime there is.

Spot on, and that doesn't get covered enough. Paul Ryan himself was one of those that would be hurt by this proposal but now that he is on the other side, he doesn't care at all.

I have to admit, I have not had much sympathy for the coal mine/rust belt crowd that voted for Trump (they did vote for him), and they obviously fell for his con out of total desperation, but honestly, that Town Hall was very compelling. Bernie Sanders has so much more compassion for these people than their own representatives and senators.

That really is sad.

More attention should be brought to this issue and to these people--I had no idea they are being destroyed by legal drug addiction.

It's just a shame it is the 'leftists' that have to do it. The right wingers, both here on the forum and in Congress, are ready to just let them die because they are 'needy people sucking on the government teat' (and I find that phrase totally repulsive.)

The hypocrisy of those who played to these people for votes is unbelievable. Where is Rand Paul? Where is McConnell? Where is Trump? They are ready to dump them too.

Now that he is moderately wealthy he does not care. I encourage the House to vote for Ryan's Don'tCare bill.
