The thing is, older people should be paying more than younger people. Otherwise you get a bunch of old, sick people signing up and few young, healthy people, which leads to death spiral. But this is too much of a disparity, and not taking into account that health insurance costs different amounts in different areas is a big problem. Do they really think Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski will vote for a bill that makes health insurance more expensive in their states?
Go back to the drawing board. Or better yet, do something else like tax cuts first and wait until next year to do healthcare. People forget that Obamacare didn't pass until year two of Obama's presidency. They shouldn't rush through this massively flawed bill just so they can say they did something.
The thing is, the baby boomers are a massive demographic that's going to be needing healthcare, and who are going to be priced out of healthcare.
The legislation has to be about cutting costs off at the knees. Either insurance companies and the healthcare industry are going to take a massive hit, or we're talking about leaving an entire generation to die.
Best part of this whole thing is that the report comes directly from the CBO, Congressional Budget Office. Not CNN, Not MSNBC...but a nonpartisan analytics office.
There is no argument to be made here from conservatives about "fake news." 14 MILLION people will lose healthcare immediately when/if Trump's new plan is passed. That's 14 million people that are currently insured under Obamacare. That is a fact.
But on January 14th, 2017, Donald Trump said he'd create "healthcare for everyone."
Conservatives....thoughts?
So who are those 14 million and exactly why will they lose their health insurance? Is it the subsidy they are going to lose so they must pay a premium or will they be ineligible for health insurance? Can they get coverage from a private carrier?

That's the bald truth.
You hit the nail on the head. Boomers can't afford Obamacare. It starts there.
I really do get the impression that a lot of people here believe that they are owed healthcare and that dammit, someone needs to cough up and pay for it besides them.
lol, insurance companies will just deny you care and you'll die a slow agonizing death. Same with disabled children. Thats the smell of profits and freedom. Only anti-social darwinians support such savagery.

That's part of life, we all die. While I'm on this rock, I want my money to enhance my life not yours.
The barn door has been opened with Obamacare. Free market system isn't coming back any more than coal mines and factories are. We need to look forward for different solutions.
