Savage says a lot of extremely inciteful, hateful BS. It's not really a surprise that eventually someone took a shot at his nose.

Is vigilante justice right? No. Is this event surprising? No.

I wouldn't call beating up an old man because you don't like his opinions 'vigilante justice' but I guess you're entitled to that logical contortion.
