I didn't read what you read. What I read was NBC was mad because she didn't tell them. I'm thinking, she didn't want NBC stealing her MSNBC story. That it turned out to be "Al Capone's vault" probably made NBC think, thank God it wasn't us.
That's true, but it's not me. To each their own preference/choice. I just don't find making fun of someone's personal appearance/whether they like hotdogs or tacos, to be something to make fun of.

I am generally against it BUT, when TV personalities do it in public on national TV stations they should NOT be exempted for being on the receiving end.

I think the only people I like making of fun of physically are Lena Dunham and Amy Schumer for being fat, ugly, hypocritical whores.

Why would she be fired? She has the highest ratings of any network anchor, her Russia coverage has been absolutely brilliant, and she did nothing wrong in this.
