Former Texas Republican Rep. Steve Stockman was jailed Thursday on charges of violating federal election law during his last term in office.

Quote:
"According to a complaint, Stockman set up a non-profit called Life Without Limits in 2011 that received a single $350,000 donation. Stockman is accused of funneling that money back to himself through payments to employees."
Former Rep. Stockman Arrested on Election Law Charges

Stockman, who was big in the Tea Party, is probably best known for inviting an Obama-mask wearing rodeo clown to perform in his state, and for walking out of President Obama's State of the Union address.

Politicians steal, that is why we need limited government.

Let him rot in federal prison if he is convicted of the charges. That's what we do to people who break federal laws.

I agree with term limits. We see crooks on both side of the aisle and with term limits there are less chances of taking advantage.

The life time retirement payment should be cut too!

I don't disagree with you, but it really would not have been a factor in this case. Stockman only served two terms, and they were non-consecutive--1995-1997 and 2013-2015.

He's just one who got caught. Let's not pretend this is one way....

Rick Scott got REWARDED WITH HIGH POLITICAL OFFICE after his health care company defrauded the government of billions.

This is a problem I assign to the voters. People went into the voting booth and picked Rick Scott. They did the same with Trump after knowing that he declared bankruptcy many times and took the public, bondholders and taxpayers for billions of dollars. But they effectively said "Oh, that's OK".

" Former Texas GOP Rep. Steve Stockman Arrested on Federal Embezzlement Charge "

He lost his 2014 election, so apparently the voters made the correct choice.

The Clinton Foundation will probably hire him. They can use someone with his skills.

Huh. GOP guy again. But to be fair, there's more GOP politicians then Democrat ones, so we may start seeing it not be so 50/50 in these things

People do bad things, it's not a representation of the people in their party.
