Its really just to make the FBI look relevant.
At least if Comey investigates you, you know he'll also clear you when he's finished looking important.
When Comey opens an investigation it makes the party he's investigating look bad.
A year later when Comey closes the investigation it makes the party look good/cleared.
And by closing the investigation near an election, Comey gets maximum media coverage.

I think it's clear that people on all sides of the issue have concluded that Comey is a joke and shouldn't be in charge of the FBI.

I wish President Trump would do something about Comey, but I know the Democrats love him right now (but they won't love him next year I suspect) and you really need both parties to get rid of him.

FBI found Brady's jersey.

So there's that.

No, Democrats do not love republican Comey.

I find it intriguing that Comey goes with DNC narrative of their hacking story instead of having his team collect the information and evidence. He also made contracting statements during election about Hillary. He is going to come up with another surprise soon.

The FBI has lots of investigations and puts lots of criminals away. Those are situations in which there has been real crime really done. In the real world of crime and investigation, there is not often continuing debate of whether an act was actually a crime in the first place.

It's these politically charged situations of "maybe it was criminal, maybe it wasn't, maybe somebody did something, maybe they didn't" that make investigations look foolish.

He appears like protecting and playing both sides. He didn't announce Trump investigation before election. He did a flip flop with Hillary in terms of affect on her elections. He is going with DNC narrative instead of collecting his own evidence. Now says no wiretapping but doesn't rule of investigating Flynn leakers. Trump is still under investigation but tells congress committees no evidence. May be he is just going with available data.

It's not necessarily the FBI's immediate job to investigate leaks. Every agency has a responsibility to handle basic evidence collection itself before going to the FBI...if it ever does, rather than handling everything in house.

I suspect the FBI can't just leap on leaks from the White House on its own initiative, and I know they can't with leaks from the DoD, which has its own criminal investigative agencies.

He was a Demon when they accused him of losing the election for them and a Saint beyond reproach when investigating a Republican.
