Thoughts on the case?
Apparently, he was still on probation for assaulting another previous girlfriend when this happened. Do you think anything should (or could) be done to mitigate the number of victims from repeat offenders of crimes likes domestic violence? Maybe something similar to the sex offender registry that would legally obligate someone to disclose their past domestic crimes after a person is convicted of assaulting a given number of partners?
Unfortunately, she knew he was like this. He had hit her before. He damn near killed her this time. The pictures were terrible, and since she had to have reconstructive surgery, she doesn't look the same.

What does that even mean?
Should people be allowed to get away with behaviors like these?

we all know the answer to that.
Hell no! I hope they keep that monster locked up for the rest of his sorry life. The op suggested a registry to protect people. I just don't think it would help. She knew. She just accepted his bs story, like so many victims do.

Perhaps not her, no. His being "famous" means that the details of his former convictions are known. But for someone who's crimes weren't plastered on headlines, many times they will not be entirely honest. A friend of mine found this out the hard way after dating a guy for two months. Things looked good until she rejected his offer for her to move in with him. When she lawyered up and pressed charges, come to found out that he'd been convicted 6 times of domestic assault. Different women, too.
What also bothers me about this case is that the defense lawyer tried to use her former career as a porn star to discredit her accusations. As if that some how justifies or excuses the brutality of the situation. He even tried the "she has rape fantasies" card.

True fact that War Machine is a total POS. May he long rot in prison. But did you have any point beyond that? Are you drawing a connection between MMA fighters and domestic violence? Or are we just talking about domestic violence period?
I would strongly encourage women who are getting out of abusive relationships to arm themselves and train to defend themselves. A gun, a weapon and/or a bit of martial arts training can give them a fighting chance when their ex decides to ignore the restraining order and try to beat the crap out of or kill them. If it were practical, I'd assign one police officer to be with them at all times. There just aren't enough cops to do that. So it's in the best interests of these women to be ready to protect themselves.

Wasn't drawing a connection between MMA Fighters and domestic violence. Thread title is literally copy-pasta of the headline.
