What is with this obsession of yours? You are just as bad about "Democrats" as a certain other poster is with "California". Did you get rejected by a girl who was a Democrat or something? Serious question, because this obsession is unhealthy.....
Good question. It would certainly weaken their position, and at the same time embolden conservatives and strengthen their position. If nothing at all comes of it, then the Republican congressional leadership will probably align themselves somewhat more strongly with the Trump creature, which would not be a good thing. How much of a difference that would make is an open question, because the party is going to be pretty fractured and divided after their health care initiative fails to pass.
But, I don't think we need to worry too much about that. Nunes' blatant misconduct yesterday makes it almost a certainty that a special prosecutor will be appointed, and I think it's a certainty something will come of it. How much, who knows? But there's way too much smoke here for there not be any fire at all.
If nothing comes of it they'll just make up some other fantasy and run with it 24x7 until it's proven false, then start over again. Their base will still vote for them and the media nuts don't lose their jobs over it so they have nothing to lose by continuing to make crap up.
The GOP did lose seats in the US House and US Senate in the 2016 election......
How many Democrat Senators, from states that voted Trump, are up for re-election?
Remember the Scott Walker syndrome?
