The working class have spoken, and I stand with them!
– John Lydon on Brexit

Godfather of punk, anarchist and former Sex Pistol John Lydon, AKA Johnny Rotten, Lydon came out in support of Brexit claiming the working class had spoken and that he would stand by them. He also claimed he could see a possible friendship in Trump, praising his ability to terrify politicians.

People are calling trumpism, alt right new right the new punk rock. Hopefully some bands will come around as right wing and stir up the music world which is far more dead than it was punk came along

The diy blogs and sites on the internet, alt right/nationalist people are stirring up the establishment and political world and the boring mainstream corporate media

Is Trumpism the new punk rock?

"Wattenberg says Trumpism was "an insurrection against Conservatism Inc." — a political establishment that had become flabby, complacent, and self-indulgent in the same way that 1970s progressive rock music had grown bombastic, pretentious, and long-winded. Whereas Republicans before Trump had been terrified of deviating from orthodox positions on trade, the desirability of immigration, or the wisdom of the Iraq war, Trump thumbed his nose at this orthodoxy."

He also sees in Trump a political manifestation of punk's do-it-yourself (DIY) ethos. (By "do-it-yourself," punks don't mean changing the oil or remodeling your bathroom; it's meant as a command: Write your own song. Paint your own painting.)

Punk-rock bands created their own independent labels and staged gigs in small clubs or church basements. Trump lacked support from Republican Party elites in the same way that punks lacked support from major labels and promoters. So he ran a shoestring campaign and made himself recklessly accessible to the media in pursuit of free coverage.

Finally there is the transgressive appeal of Trump's rejection of political correctness. Wattenberg says: "There's power in that. Punks were also occasionally misrepresented as harboring fascist sympathies. Once they call you a fascist, there's nothing more than they can say. That's the source of excitement Milo [Yiannopoulos] generated on campus: 'We're free again.' That's the thrill and the power of busting taboos."

Another cool musician who was right wing, Johnny Ramone. Sad to see him gone and we are stuck with liberal pc douchebags like green day and all this crappy boring pc rock

“God bless President Bush, and God bless America,” Ramone said at rock and roll hall fof fame, clad in his trademark T-shirt, ripped blue jeans and leather jacket.

“I said that to counter those other speeches at the other awards,” Mr. Ramone says in a phone interview. “Republicans let this happen over and over, and there is never anyone to stick up for them. They spend too much time defending themselves.”

Johnny dropped his job as a construction worker in 1974 and held down stage right for 22 years as the guitarist for the most influential rock band of the last 30 years. The Ramones fertilized the punk-rock scene first in their hometown of New York City,

For his news now, he hits the Drudge Report and Newsmax.com, Fox News’ “Hannity and Colmes,” and “The O’Reilly Factor.” He listens daily to Rush Limbaugh and Michael Medved. In L.A., people spend a lot of time in their cars, and he uses that time to educate himself, he says.

tooling about in his black Cadillac DeVille, “a good American car,” Johnny says proudly.

He is an avid film buff, and he watches two flicks a day — sci-fi, horror or anything intense — and his private collection numbers 4,000.

He reads mostly books on film and baseball. He still buys music, “old rock ‘n’ roll, ‘50s is my favorite,” he says.

Yeah, billionaire boy Trump is so punk.

Punks are just whiny losers seeking rebellion for its own sake. Rotten is old and rich too just like Trump. Neither cares about the working class.

It used to be "eat the rich" and down with the status quo, now it's "support the rich" and defend the status quo for the left.

He isn't the Godfather of Trump. That would belong to The Ramones, the entire group. On top of it Rotten isn't a natural born citizen so his opinion doesn't mean squat.
