Liberal progressives live in a determinalistic 'cult of personality' in which people and candidates have to have the right personality in order for them to be effective at what they do. In other words, they put the cart before the horse. They think 'progress' and 'change' is some kind of goal that needs to be sold and promoted instead of what it should be, an appreciation and evolution of common values which are based on responsibility and love.
With the liberal mentality there is never a balance of contentment, there is only worry and anxiety because of personal insecurity due to worry about having the right 'personality' and guilt of being duped by the same types of people.

What does the 'Cult of Personality' mean to you?

A cult of personality is a devotion to a person rather than ideas. Hitler is a good example. People loved Hitler. They also loved what he said. Which came first though? Probably what he said, but it turned into him. It got the point where it was illegal to disagree with Hitler's government and that was celebrated by the masses. It is not a liberal or a conservative issue. Any ideology can fall victim to this.

This. President Trump is a prime example of a cult of personality, where, as he himself said, he could kill someone on Main Street and his followers wouldn't even blink an eye. He tells them what they want to hear, validates their worst impulses, and they love him for it. Doesn't hurt that he was a reality show personality first. Just like skepticratic describes above.

The Caitlyn Jenner thread is an example. Someone mused that Jenner was the most recognized Republican in the world and that Jenners' involvement in politics would be an opportunity for the GOP to engage in expanding their gender identity something something something more buzz words.

Aside from the fact that I've listened to Jenner in a few interviews recently and have zero interest in this individuals' book or political aspirations, no-one on this site has ANY idea what positions this person has beyond transgender issues. But hey..........positions posmissions. The GOP could have a trans person on the team so we can prove that we're not haters and stuff. And Jenner was a Kardashian as well, so we can prove that the Democrats aren't the only ones with celebrities in their back pocket. And all kinds of other stupid justifications and rationalizations for opening the door to politics to Jenner simply because of the gender issue of the day, the last name and the celebrity associations. The cult of personality.

No thanks.
