It was the current London Mayor who commisioned the Harris Review in to Security in order to prevent terrorist attacks. The Report made 127 Reccomendations last year including more bollards, security blocks and raised pavement curbs.
As for the current Mayors past, he was a Human Rights Lawyer for Human Rights Group Liberty, before becoming a Labour MP in Parliament and then standing for Mayor of London. He has no direct ties to extremism, nor has he ever supported terrorism or extremism.
