Trump had no idea what Ryan was proposing. From all accounts, he was uninformed, disinterested, lacked focus and made no effort to learn anything about it. Ryan told him it would be great and he did not bother to look at it further. All he cared about was his "win". Some champion of the little man.

Obama did the same thing though I don't care what anyone says ..Obama was clueless what was in the ACA. He just signed it and wanted it to be a part of his legacy.
