In another thread talking about Louis CK calling the president a liar, there was a debate raging about rather or not his actions were brave, most arguing along the lines that it cannot be brave becasue it's "trendy" to hate Trump. That Louis was just being a good little conformist, saying what he needed to. And I simply argued back that he's not a conformist; not really. He says things that would make the SJW types squirm, and he does it with a big ole smile on his face too. I simply made note of the fact that there were all these rather toxic assumptions being made about Louis CK only becasue he took a position against Trump. I noted that this seemed like a cult of personality.
Lo and behold, I come across this
story. To summarize, a woman, who for years has argued against the increasing amount of power of presidency holds, mentioned briefly a hypothetical scenario where the president might take action against his citizens and what a military coup to prevent that would look like. And it was completely hypothetical and most commenters on her site understood this, even those disagreeing with what she was saying. Then Breitbart ran a story about her article, with the headline "Ex-Obama Official Suggests Military Coup Against Trump." Not even touching the fact that this is a literal example of fake news, from a site who's founder (until recently) worked in the white house with the very same president who loves to talk about fake news, this resulted in the author of the article receiving an enormous number of threats. Just to name one, she got an anonymous call from someone saying they would support a military coup to "kill all of the Jews" (the author is a Jew).
I can think of nothing more un-American than supporting an authoritarian. That's why we have three branches of government, and some people are noting that one of the branches is taking a lot of the power form another, and many are disgusted that the one remaining branch capable of resisting the presidency is doing so at all. Trump himself said "if there's a terrorist attack, it's the judges fault." Yet, when a constitutionalist, I don't know what else this woman could be considered, simply mentions a possibility, she attacked by the people who want to "make American great again." And my question for you all... is anyone actually ok with this? And if we assume not, why is this not THE big topic right now?
