It would be had the cops detained the man or questioned him for hours. However, they didn't. They arrived and left in a matter of seconds. Blaming a hotel clerk for being extra careful and calling it "Orwellian" is a bit over-the-top. As soon as the cops arrived they realized a mistake had been made.
No, you know whats over the type? Assuming that a man travelling with a underage girl is a sexual pervert, even after he shows you pictures of them on facebook and proves that they have a father/daughter relationship, the stupid employee goes and calls the cops anyway on him. Now, THAT is over the top.

And we all take off our shoes at airport checking do to one whacko. That is over the top but is the world we live in.
It is awful. But we hear about human trafficking all the time and to be on the lookout for older men and young girls. It can be hard to know what to do.
Yep, take it to the next step of "nancytopia". Of course the truck driver that sees them driving down the road should call the cops suspecting he could be a pedo with her in his car. The guy at the gas station, the lady at the diner....in short any time a man goes anywhere with his daughter he should expect 4-5 police interviews along the way each day because it's worth it!
Threadwinner.

Thanks feminists! What a great country to be a guy in!
It really has noting to do with feminists.
It is more a product of the "stranger danger" movement that started in the 80's. Don't trust anyone you don't know, especially men. Beware of vans and anyone offering candy.
It is really unfortunate. Most men, like most human beings in general, are good people and aren't looking to harm children.
As a Mom -- not a single Mom - -but a mom -- I've travelled with my son with his hockey team. Whenever we flew i had a notarized letter from my husband saying he was aware and was okay with the trip. When my husband travelled with my son, he had a notarized letter from me.
And did they lock her in the room? What difference does the separate room make if she's free to walk down the hall to the man's room? It's insanity.
What's insane is that a story first appears in The Sun, which is like a tabloid in the U.K., and we're all talking about it.
Where does it say she was put in a separate room? Didn't happen. A new clerk in training overreacted and called the police. Maybe the man was acting suspiciously. Who knows? The cops showed up and left. Period. He wasn't hassled or arrested. End of story. In fact, you should wonder why this was even news with everything that's happening in today's world. Why did the man call the newspapers? Look at all the pictures he posted. It looks as if he is trying to build a case for a lawsuit.
In the US, the police could not have questioned the girl without parents' permission or an order from a judge.
