I think the message is clear, we're done playing games. As long as we don't get sucked into another long term conflict with nation building and Us troops getting blown up in the Middle East I'm ok with giving ISIS bombs.
I wish they would used a B52H instead of a Cargo Plane. Just the mere mention of the B52 brings fear to the enemies. The Iraqi Army was devastated by good old fashion Iron bombs left over from WWII.
"Drawn out".....how long exactly? Another 15 years? To what end?
Who knows. If it were up to me we would have wiped out these terrorist sand apes in a year and left. No nation building. But I don't have that kind of power.
I would prefer that NATO do more of the heavy lifting but we are the Big Kid on the block so we lead.
I recently read that the Afghan Army is stepping up and becoming more effective so I'm hoping we will be able to reduce our presence in the next year or so.
Stop this recruiting nonsense. Who recruited the 9/11 hijackers? We were not in Iraq, or Afghanistan and there was no Gitmo or Abu Graib. There's always something to get excited about.
They use everything as a recruitment tool anyway. We attack, they recruit with that. We don't attack...they say we are weak and they recruit with that. We have aggressive rules of engagement and kill civilians, they recruit with that, if we have timid rules of engagement they recruit with that as well. We occupy, recruitment tool. We withdraw...it's a retreat! They got us on the ropes! No matter our approach they will twist it in to a recruitment tool so let's just do what we think is best and not worry about how they will recruit with it.
We were involved in Afghanistan pre 9-11. We armed OBL when he was fighting the Soviets. After the Soviets left we were asked to leave and would not. We were warned that was a mistake.
That's factually incorrect. We armed and provided money to the Pakistani intelligence agency (ISI). We also trained native Afghans (only) to use Stinger missile launchers. We never provided anything to Bin Laden.

15 years......maybe the other countries aren't impressed with our leadership. I'm certainly not going to commit my country without an end goal.
We have been hearing that the armies were ready to go for years.
When trump bombs something, it's usually to deflect the news from something else. Today he was busy secretly signing another "executive order," this one allowing states to withhold federal money from Planned Parenthood. Then he had the most beautiful and delicious lemon meringue pie you ever saw.
Too big to fit in a bomb bay. They're dragged out of the cargo bay of a C-130 by parachute.
At least, that's the old corps method.
It's a 21,600 pound bomb and it's dropped out the back of a MC-130.
