So why employ the US to further a divide and rule strategy that doesn't pay much in the way of dividends to the people of the United States?

Go back to sleep. Israel has had three wars with the region and it hasn't taken out any other nation to the point of non-existence.

Israel can defend itself. We've given then all the hardware to be the dominant power in the ME. The US should let the sovereign nations over there solve their own issues. Too bad that Trump has flipped flop and now prefers to be the world's policeman.

Again Israel has the doom Day nukes. Iran can't do anything really major militarily to them.

If Iran happens to get nukes. Well they're at a stale mate. Unless you wish to destroy each other. Of course there is the possibility of dragging everybody else with them.....but then again maybe not. In this case there no hilter here. There's only Hiroshima for Iran and Israel.

As for America. Call us back in 20 years when a new generation is hungry for war. Right now we fairly content (short of chemical, biological, or nuclear weapons ) to watch the Middle and Parts of North Africa destroy themselves.

The two major wars whereby they had nuclear weapons...67' and 73'. In 67' there was no major threat, they attacked in an offensive and won. In 73' they *were* threatened and Gold Meir told Kissinger they were about to go nuclear..the US performed the massive airlift of support to ensure that didn't happen.

So in short they never needed to. But would they? Absolutely.

Either the world has to work together to so or all the debt the US has built up needs to all be forgiven and then the US has to take car of it.
"We" have to do it again? Who is we?

Iran isn't a threat to the United States, so it would be wrong for us to attack them.

If Iran is a threat to its neighbors, then its neighbors should do something about it. But i don't want Americans to die in a war against Iran for absolutely no benefit.

Most people still haven't figured out that the Union of European countries are worthless as there is no centralized army that can quickly me mobilized. The Arab League has the same problem. The only countries that can mobilize large armies are the US, Russia and China. China will take care of North Korea, but we may have to sacrifice South Korea to do so. If Iran becomes a threat to Russia (and has something to gain) then Russia will join the US in taking out Iran.
Iran lives in Russia's hemisphere, they don't live in ours.

Absolutely. There is absolutely NOTHING in it for the United States. Not a damn thing.

George W. Bushs invasion of Iraq over bogus "weapons of mass destruction" was catastrophic for the middle east by inflaming Shiite/Sunni tensions, it has been a huge plus for Iran and Shiites. Alot of this came from terrible advice from people like Netanyahu and necons in the bush administration and people he listened to. Now we have Assad and Iran and Hezbollah winning in Syria and Jared Kushner and others are pushing trump to get rid of Assad?

Will we see snl sketches mocking Kushner like they did Steve Bannon, editorials and the media going after Kushner like they did Bannon?

How was america threated by the fake "weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq that justified the invasion of that country?

Why are we inflaming tensions from south korea and north korea with war games and larger military presence, or in the Ukraine with russia, how would Americans feel if we had Russia and China and other nations on our borders with their miltary?

Why has Kushner been given a free pass by the media with his very questionable background? He is 36 with no experience in foreign policy, an orthodox jew with deep connections to Netanyahu and Israel and probably one of the most powerful figures in the trump circle and now we are bombing syria and getting more interventionist in the middle east but the media says nothing critical about him?
