Becca Longo won't be the first female kicker in college football, but she's believed to be the first to earn a scholarship in Division I or II, after Longo, 18, signed a letter of intent to play for Adams State University in Colorado next year.
...
Longo kicked for the Basha Bears for two seasons, wearing number 4. As a senior, she made 35 of 38 extra-point attempts and also hit a 30-yard field goal, according to Adams State.
...
In addition to football, Longo, who is listed at 5'11" and 145 pounds, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the women's team at Adams State. She's ranked among Arizona's top 60 hoops players by the MaxPreps site.

I think this is the future of sports. No women's sports or men's sports, just sports, since biologically male athletes are accepted in many colleges and high schools as female athletes if the male athlete identifies as female.
I love football and applaud women athletes, but a 145 pound woman, even a kicker, is taking a hell of a chance being seriously injured if tackled accidently or on purpose by a 200+ pound college football player. I wouldn't take the physical risk if I were her.
She won't make the football team, her best field goal was a thirty yarder, that stinks. The scholarship is for basketball.
Given that they'd already signed another kicker who has made 40-yard FGs in high school to round out their roster (which already has a returning sophomore kicker), I'm inclined to agree. The opponent's 15-yard line should not be outside of field goal range, even at the Division II level. However, I think they'll keep her on the team, and perhaps use her occasionally for extra point attempts.
So, did she actually get a scholarship for football?
You know - the article does not say specifically if it is for football or basketball or both.
She earned a scholarship, and signed two letters of intent. So I guess I can't say for sure. The football is highlighted.
