I think both sides are just as bad. They got theirs, why would they care about anyone else?

I did some more digging and I found out that the Freedom Caucus got a concession allowing states to opt out of requiring insurance plans to cover essential health services and pre-existing conditions. In short, people that live in states where GOP controlled legislatures have large numbers of Tea Party types are basically screwed if they plan on getting pregnant or if they have (or should develop) a chronic condition. The moderates (Tuesday Group) will get some more funding for high risk pools to try and cover their rear ends ... in reality these pools will not be able to cover everyone that needs it, or provide decent coverage either with the amount of money budgeted. In short, we're going back to the way it was before the ACA.

Translation: Move out of Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma, etc if you want a healthcare plan that actually includes anything beyond catastrophic coverage.

What about the expanded Medicaid? I know the Freedom Caucus wanted that to be repealed as well. Is that included in the concessions you found? That could be a sticking point for the reps in the red states that expanded it. Millions more would be out in the cold if they repeal that, and that's not going to fly in those states.

My spouse and I are fully shielded from anything that can be thrown at us at this point. I say bring it on, conservatives LOL. Obamacare can't be repealed fast enough!

The WaPo article said the Medicaid expansion would be ended by 2019, same as under the previous plan that was scuttled in March.

Meanwhile, the new GOP plan would keep in place the old plan’s phase-out of the Medicaid expansion, which would itself result in 14 million fewer people on Medicaid

It if your pre-existing condition is self-inflicted due to lifestyle choices.

They did regardless. Cancer was one. Most cancer can't be attributed to "lifestyle choices." Except for lung (smoking) or oral (chew).

Is working in a coal mine and getting lung cancer a lifestyle choice? You could find many occupations, let alone genetics like breast cancer, that carrying with them an increased risk of developing pre-existing conditions.

The fact is Obama won. Whatever plan the Republicans come up with will leave our government more involved in healthcare than they were in 2008.
