Why would Trump want to meet with a bunch of journalists who he often refers to as "the enemy" and "fake news" when he can hold a rally with thousands of his hardcore supporters who will cheer and celebrate everything he says.
Why are the big media cancelling? I thought this was THEIR night, not the president's. The president is there just to be abused, and Trump refused. They are boycotting their own event.

I thought that was strange too. Trump is a coward. As a sage poster said, he can dish it out but he can't take it. He knows if he attends, he will be inundated by many uncomfortable questions the answers to which he can't lie his way out of.
I wish I could remember who said this yesterday on Fox News so I could give them credit but by holding his rally when he is, the "White House Correspondents" can't go to their own party. They have to cover the rally because their job is to stay with the president.
These reporters cover the President, not pep rallies. What exactly would be the point of any White House correspondent going to Trump's rally, especially when he won't be answering any questions from reporters?
Poor little sulking Donny refuses to join the adults he is skeered will make fun of him, and has his own little party where he can be the center of the adoring crowd.
So maybe Fox and C-Span will cover it.
And the Correspondents Dinner could not have picked a better comedian. Perfect.
