“Electing Saudi Arabia to protect women’s rights is like making an arsonist into the town fire chief,” said Hillel Neuer, executive director of UN Watch. “It’s absurd.”

“I wish I could find the words to express how I feel right know. I’m ‘saudi’ and this feels like betrayal,” tweeted a self-described Saudi woman pursuing a doctorate in international human rights law in Australia.

Commission on the Status of Women | UN Women – Headquarters

Quote:
The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women.

The CSW is instrumental in promoting women’s rights, documenting the reality of women’s lives throughout the world, and shaping global standards on gender equality and the empowerment of women.
That's a Trump level appointment choice

Just more proof of what a friggin' joke the UN is. The UN is most useless organization on earth. If world peace is ever achieved, it'll be despite the UN, not because of it.

This would be funny if it wasn't so stupid.

What's next, electing Chechnya to the Commission on gay rights?

Where is the slam head on desk emoticon when I need it...

What in the flying ****? Sure, let's put a country whose government regularly oppresses women onto an international commission on female rights Just goes to show how much of a joke the UN is.

Not the first time the UN did something like this. Didn't they once have Libya chair the human rights commission and wasn't Iraq once on another commission?
United Nations News Centre - By secret ballot, Libya elected chair of UN human rights commission

CNN.com - Iraq to chair U.N. disarmament conference - Jan. 29, 2003

You can't judge a culture in cultural relativism. Cultures are the widely accepted beliefs and actions of a group of people. Therefore you can't judge the widely accepted beliefs and actions within Saudi Arabia pertaining to women.

Who are we to judge how Saudi Arabia treats women?

Besides look how sexist America is, Hillary just lost the election primarily due to sexism.

Only conservative Neanderthals would judge another's culture.

The Chinese eating dog meat is culture. Thai transsexual performing on the stage is culture. This is not culture.

That's not called culture when half the population is forbidden from driving, or even walking in the mall by themselves.

When you kid is repeated beaten by bullies at school, don't complain, because that's just part of American school culture.

This ^^^. When will the left finally admit that the U.N. is against their "supposed" values??
Will Trump have the courage to kick them out of our country or at least deny funding them?

Has Nikki Haley given a response to this yet?
