It's not my logic; I pulled it right out of the liberal playbook. The same way liberals here think white people today own the responsibility to make up for the indiscretions of our long dead ancestors ( slavery, jim crow, racism ) German liberals like Merkel feel guilt ridden over the misdeeds of their ancestors. Merkel herself said that guilt over the holocaust is "everlasting"......
Personally, I've got nothing against her. I don't think she should be in a position of power given the circumstances in which she got it, but other than that, what has she done wrong? She defends Trump, which would carry more weight if they weren't related. Of course she's going to defend her dad. Why would she not?
She's got no business being in government really, but she acts with dignity and purpose. I can respect that. Germans should too. It's not their problem anyway.
They booed her comments; you know; that freedom of expression thingy Americans keep banging on about? Her position as a guest was used by her to extoll her daddies supposed support for women in the world.
That was a major gaff on her part for two reasons 1/ it's utter bullcrap as anyone with a functioning frontal lobe knows by now and 2/ her daddy wasn't on the agenda.

I wasn't aware that she was a death camp guard in WWII. How old is she?
Oh she wasn't there? Hmmm. So, she feels guilt for something that was done before she was born? That's seems a bit illogical to me. How could she possibly be responsible for any of that?
