Not intervening in countries that did not do a thing to us once was a Conservative position. One that the Founders warned us against.

I wouldn't willingly send my kids into any war where our freedom was not directly threatened.

But that goes for ANY president. Why single out Trump?

Well, the fact that they are already over 40 might help....except for one!

So it's my grandchildren I may have to worry about.

The Draft? There is a clear reason it was abolished. Soldiers were killing their officers and other soldiers. Others were doing dope full time and telling the officers they don't give a damn.

Unless you are going to change the mindset of 300 million Americans, the only way you get even a 1/2 decent military is to PAY BIG MONEY. And that's just the problem....or at least part of it.

Back in the Vietnam days my parents did have dinner table convos about it. Mom said we should go and Dad - well, he sorta liked his boys in one piece. Luckily we were on the young side and my lottery number was picked high anyway.

Even going trillions in debt and losing wars caused GWB to call up the reserve and the national guard and make them do multiple deployments...then lower the standards and accept criminals and some of low intelligence.

So it's a valid question. Americans don't tend to rally to much except their sports teams. Trying to get a couple million to respect Trump enough to fight "optional" wars could be tough.

Of course we won't have to worry much. ISIS will be gone in 30 days and I suppose he will solve the entire world's problems in about 6 months at that rate. He will then win his Nobel Prize.

Because his words are 100% opposite of what he promised the minority that voted him in.
That makes him a bit special when he starts throwing power around.

I heard he puts boots and artillery on the ground in Syria and maybe some other places......remember, he told us how smart he was and that he was not going to tell us. But I think 100's or 1000's of Marines are now in their boots on Syrian territory and maybe more in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This is in addition to his threads elsewhere,

I'm never impressed with "I think". Trump probably will send in *more* troops than are already there. I do not support that at all but it is what he said he would do. It's one of the big reasons I did not vote for him.

You can't call out his supporters over this.

Would you give any advice to your children regarding signing up for participation in the mass killings of people 1/2 way around the world...who didn't actually do a thing to your country (except flap their gum?)

I certainly wouldn't.

I can understand those who are already signed up and/or those who want a career in fighting. But on the other hand we clearly have an indecisive madman at the helm who present a danger to even the basics of world peace (yes, the world is actually peaceful in a relative sense)...

Walk softly and carry a big stick. I don't think it was worded "threaten everyone each day and then tell them you actually like them and maybe can negotiate.

Politics and Warmongering aside - we simply can't afford it. Even the Pentagon said we can't fight more than one war at once - and that's with 20 TRILLION in debt (and going up).

What a mess! Obama is starting to look like e deserved that Nobel Prize.
If??? If????? He already has. Remember he just 'bombed" Assad? Al Qaedas enemy.

Really, our miltary isnt even half way decent. I think you are simplifying things.
WW2 we had many wealthy, well to do people fight. Look up General Jimmy Stewart, for example.
Vietnam, changed everything. That was a war/police action we whouldnt have been involved in..
Regardless, you have a very shallow view of Veterans and service members.

That plays zero role in whether or not I encourage my children to go to war. One thing has nothing to do with the other.
