Anybody that pays B. Hussein Obama $400K for a speech is getting royally ripped off. Nothing else need be said about that.
And having established that fact...Obama wandering around hat-in-hand on Wall Street, begging in piteous fashion for alms from those he had lambasted as evil while he was President is not, in and of itself, illegal.
Inconsistent, immoral, hypocritical, unseemly and gauche, yes. Illegal, no.

This isn't for the speech. This is for everything the administration did for Wall Street the last 8 years. I'm generalizing here but so many who condemn money in politics will not be able to bring themselves around to condemning this.
Even hypocritical Elizabeth Warren was unable to defend this. (Not that she had a problem with backing Hillary who had done the same)

You don't see the difference between private citizen vs public sector?
It really is hilarious to watch Trump supporters blast former presidents profiting from their reputations post-office while the current one is blatantly profiting from it right now. The fact he can (and probably is) either blackmail countries into doing business deals with his family or altering policy based on how it affects his family business dealings is mind-blowing.

No disagreement here. I was merely pointing out that Obama was actually Wall Street's handmaiden for the duration of his whole administration, while at the same time he habitually used Wall Street as a rhetorical whipping boy, for the purpose of convincing his ill-informed supporters that he actually supported them in the face of some imaginary financial onslaught from Wall Street, when nothing could have been further from the truth.
Still, if you pay Obama $400K for a speech, you're getting ripped off, as far as I'm concerned.
Clearly, Obama is no Winston Churchill or Cicero. (There's no evidence Obama can even spell "Cicero.")
If you pay $400K for a speech from Obama, you're getting an inferior forensic (in the rhetorical sense) service.
But it's not illegal for anybody to pay him $400K for a speech, nor is it illegal for Obama to accept the money. But it is pretty sleazy.

Can we just keep copying and reposting this.
Critics of anyone benefiting from their role in govt. are blind indeed if they can't call it like it is for Trump and his family.
I don't begrudge him making money. That's a lefty thing. The real issue might be "hypocrite" but it's not making what he can get.
