The Obama presidency is the first administration in United States history to record seven straight years of annual gross domestic product growth below 3 percent. A higher percentage of American children live in poverty today than did at the start of the Great Recession. Low income communities suffer far more from social degeneration, including high rates of crime and violence, than from material deprivation. The C.B.O.'s June 2015 report said that money transfers to the poor act as implicit taxes, reducing the labor force participation rate and depressing the economy further. The labor force participation rate in Greece is 52 percent and in Puerto Rico 43 percent. Entirely to many people are being allowed to go on government disability program rolls, not good for many of them in the long run and not financially sustainable to the remaining working population either. “Work” and “purpose” are intimately connected according to researchers at the University of Michigan who, for example, found that welfare payments make one unhappier than a modest income honestly earned and used to provide for one’s family.

Yeah, Obama really screwed things up. I remember those wonderful days in 2008 when people were applying for UEI in record numbers. Many were losing their homes, and businesses were closing left and right. Banks had so many repossessed homes and cars they didn't know what to do with them. We repossessed boats, big boats, and we had so many we had nowhere to store them.

Ah, for those good old days to return ! Damn that Obama for turning things around !

After 8 long years, democrats still whined about the economy they inherited. Can you imagine Reagan just sitting on his hands in the ENTIRE 1980's blaming Carter for being a horrible president.

It's petty and too bad for democrats to keep finding excuses why Oblame-a didn't do anything positive. Spending obscene amounts of money and nothing to show for it. More companies moved offshore than any other president in history. Nice job

As baby boomers age, the participation rate is going to drop. Baby Boomers represent a large portion of our population. As they retire (which we are in the height of now) those not participating - -not formally working -- will grow. It has nothing to do with the President and his policies.

Deep recessions as a result of financial crashes are completely different than the recession in the early 1980s. Trump is preparing another big one by putting Wall Street in charge of the treasury and the economy. Its called "draining the swamp" I've heard...

And 3% GDP growth in an era of aging and baby boomers retiring is simply a ridiculous yardstick. Of course, the people who talk about "not even managed a year of 3% GDP growth" know this very well. Its just a talking point concocted by some right wing PR dude and all right wing media ran with it.

How did he manage to fail so badly?
"How did he manage to fail so badly?"

The so-called "Stimulus" bill is all you have to look at.

It was MEANT to kick start the economy by providing money to complete gov't backed construction type projects.

While some of it went to actual construction projects MOST went to gov't agencies and paid for such things as overtime for HHS employees.

Obama himself laughed when he said, "I guess there weren't as many "shovel ready" projects as I thought there were", yet the money was spent ANYWAY.

The "Clunker" project was ALSO a big flop as were MOT of his "attempts"

Do Solindra and the Volt ring a bell?

Good lord. How much of this nonsense do you actually believe? Its almost ALL wrong!
It is difficult not to wonder if some of those posting on this forum are either Russian and/or RW trolls or posting from a psychiatric facility.

There is no way that a person with two wits to rub together believes the constant stream of lies posted on this forum.

Not going to go line by line but your African American drop out rate doesn't tell the whole story -- flat rates usually don't. Usually you have to look at the trend...oh look....... The rest of your information is dismissed by me because that one stat -- which you seem to think indicates a failing on the part of the federal govt......in fact shows a positive impact on that specific number. YAWN.....

The status dropout rate decreased from 10.9 percent in 2000 to 5.9 percent in 2015. During this time, the Hispanic status dropout rate decreased by 18.6 percentage points, while the Black and White status dropout rates decreased by 6.6 and 2.4 percentage points, respectively. Nevertheless, in 2015 the Hispanic status dropout rate (9.2 percent) remained higher than the Black (6.5 percent) and White (4.6 percent) status dropout rates.

This too from the National Center for Education Statistics.
