USPS is one of the few things that keep prices for the private companies reasonable.

I also have not noticed any difference in timeliness of my packages arriving...

I have only noticed that two day priority is now two to three day priority and I'm guessing part of that is due their contract with Amazon. In our area, USPS delivers a ton of Amazon packages, some even on Sundays and Amazon prime packages with two day shipping get delivered on time without fail.
