Or be denied coverage outright at any point in the future.

We moved one step forward with the ACA, and about 20 steps back with this POS.

Under this bill virtually anything could be called a pre-existing condition. Chicken pox when you were 9 years old, if you ever had a cold in your life, broke your arm or leg, fell off a bicycle and hit your head when you were a kid, etc. it can be twisted into grounds for denying you coverage. Even if you are currently "covered" the insurance company can use virtually anything as an excuse to deny paying for your care when you fall ill and need it most just because you once fell off your bike or had chicken pox 30 years ago.

They know they can get away with it because few people have the means to bring a lawsuit against a big powerful Wall Street insurance firm and their army of well-paid corporate lawyers and lobbyists.

This is exactly what doesn't seem to be getting through to people. Many conservatives have their chests all puffed out because they're not diabetic or hypertensive, but preexisting conditions encompass so much more than that. In fact, it encompasses pretty much everything.

So if you've ever gone to the doctor for anything other than a routine check-up, you're in the same boat as the diabetic.

This is a very interesting development. How will this affect the likelihood of women reporting rapes going forward knowing the insurance consequences of that?
I read the article - it's even more Dastardly that you reported. MOTHERS will be denied Health Insurance because they have the Pre-Existing Condition of giving birth. OH NOOOOOOS

We are doomed, doomed - I tell you!!

The HMOs employ armies of "claims adjusters" who sit around all day dreaming up ways to deny people coverage, including denying claims of their own current customers, and people die as a result. These are the real-life death panels. They actually get paid commissions and bonuses based on how many claims denied.

Vote these idiots out ASAP. Protest at townhall meetings. The Republicans own this now. No more blaming the democrats. None of these people voting for this should be allowed to retain office.

Did you READ the article?!

Nowhere does it say these things will come to pass.
Just speculation and fear-mongering.

I hated the ACA.
I hate the ACHA or whatever crap thing they plan on calling this new monstrosity.

But what I hate more is intellectually dishonest fear-mongering stupidity that just riles people up without actually presenting any concrete facts of what is to come.
Whether it's democrat or republican.

It's useless and irresponsible.
It's not fear-mongering. It's staying informed and expressing outrage because if we continue to be ignorant of what's really in the bill, we will be like the House Repugs who actually voted for this monstrosity of a bill. I doubt many of them know what the heck they voted for.

Under this bill, almost everyone in America will have a preexisting condition, don't think you or your loved ones won't be affected.

The ACA changed that. You could never be denied coverage for any reason. But with this monstrosity, the pre-existing conditions are back. And having been raped is one of them.

If you are saying it's insane, I agree with you. But there it is.
Not who you are talking to and I am just clarifying things to learn.

Would rape not be considered a preexisting condition so that expenses of healthcare specifically related from a rape can't be covered if you buy insurance after the rape. However, the rape itself would not be used to deny someone from buying coverage - just that medical treatment from the rape itself could be denied as it happened prior to purchase.

The Republicans would argue that it would be akin to buying fire insurance after your home burns down. Or buying health insurance immediately after breaking my arm and assuming that they will cover my arm's needs.

With that said - either way, this is a dumb move, has no good real world results and is bad PR.

And I think we should move to a national healthcare system like France has.
