Sometimes?? Conservatives flat out say the poor, needy, sick, etc, SHOULD die or stay that way because (get this) THEY ARE NOT THEIR PROBLEM. Conservatives are all about "every man for himself" and think that the privilege they were born into is somehow earned, while the awful conditions others were born into are also somehow earned
On the other hand they preach about freedom and scream bloody murder when hearing the word "abortion". Talk about hipocrisy.
There are not more HEARTLESS people in this world than conservatives. And then they mock what they call "liberals, dems, commies, socialists" as a demagogues that just want to give money to the poor, as if that was a horrible thing.
The problem with your line of thinking our system is for helping out the poor during crisis. Not caring out for the rest of their lives. Liberals endorse Generational Welfare, while Conservatives have limits and expect people to pick themselves up at some point.
Our churches pick where the government leaves off where the Gov falls short. Again the church will help you and show how to fish, not just give a fish.
Liberals have no Idea how money is made. Just support everyone till death. If we have a codependent sociality we are doomed. The lessons of self worth and independence is worth all of the Social programs , under the sun!

You are not pulling yourself up by your bootstraps if others subsidize your health insurance.
Instead of families building wealth and prosperity, business, acquiring property and passing it down to their future generations offering them stability like it should be they have created a nation of shiftless and confused people who think that keeping up with the Jones via 'education' and corporatism is the what success is.
Even in the days of slavery the slaves had more family structure than many families now. You will see that the people with the most stable families are generally the most content and the least needy.
All they have done is made the problem of dependency worse. It is no mystery why there are rampant problems with alcohol and drug addiction, food addiction, promiscuity and other destructive behaviors as much as chronic neediness.
Liberals have created voids in peoples hearts that no amount of money or material objects can ever replace. A solid family structure of a good fathers and loving nurturing mother is priceless. It has become all backwards due to haste of progress and material gain but without a strong principle of good parenting and financial accountability. Haste makes waste. It is only going to get worse.
America has been fooled by the people who said they were helping her. Even Orson Welles knew that.
Many reports indicate that these social problems, including drug and other addictions, high divorce rates, high teen pregnancy rates, high dropout rates, low educational attainment rates, etc., are consistently and significantly higher in red states.
You are not pulling yourself up by your bootstraps if others subsidize your health insurance.
Health insurance by definition means that some people are subsidizing others. If you don't want others to subsidize your health care, then you would decline to have health insurance and would pay for everything out of pocket. So go ahead and cancel your policy so others with the same health insurance can stop subsidizing you.
