hate crimes do in fact happen across this Nation on a daily basis, and that the occurrence of such acts have actually increased in todays hot political climate.
I immediately assume they are fake when I hear them, because most are.
I do too. It's sad that they do this knowing that it only makes people disbelieve the real stories of racism. At this point, I believe nothing without video proof and a confession, and I don't even always believe the video.
If a hate crime comes in the form of a note, or chalk drawings, or nooses hanging from trees suddenly appearing one night when everyone was asleep, then I pretty much draw my own conclusion. And this girl seemed to know she would be prosecuted if she made a police report, but no note because there was a ceremonial burning of it? Come on! If it were real she'd save that note and show it to the world. Any ceremonial burning would be done before a crowd.
It doesn't take a genius to doubt stories like this.

These hoaxes are real racism. They are actual hate crimes, motivated by racial hatred, and intended to generate hatred against the people they falsely implicate. Since it's gotten to the point that they are the norm rather than the exception, shouldn't they make you angry rather than sad?

It does make me angry too, especially when you see all those signs everywhere at the school against white people. I think the "studies" professors need to be driven off the campuses. I noticed one of the demands was that all students must take two years of studies classes. That's one way to assure you get to keep your job.
good grief. interesting that they closed the comments to that article.
meanwhile, at the 'Manitou Messenger" - st. olaf's student paper - there has not been a single word written since the hoax story broke
Yeah, leave it to a psychologist to psycho babble it into something other than a racially driven hoax.
