MJ is only illegal because it pays the bills and keeps the lights on for certain folks. Minor drug charges keep jails full and law enforcement can seize money and property related to MJ sales.

I suspect that more and more states will legalize it, then the feds will be forced to legalize it.

The marijuana plant itself was causing no problems in society, it was made illegal for reasons completely unrelated to the effects of the plant when ingested. In order to cover that up, "Reefer Madness" was created, along with the ensuing brainwashing campaign that has lasted ever since.

Hence, in congress, testimony was actually given that "marihuana causes young white women to sleep with black jazz musicians". Really. No kidding.
I wonder how the perception got that way when there was one perfectly good minority to rightfully blame it on? Weed came from down south Mexico way and was brought into America by Mexicans migrating ~1910 and on. And with Mexicos prohibition on weed around 1920 more product will head north.

Heroin is from a plant seed. Mushrooms are just fungi. Should we make everything legal as long as it's found on earth?

Yes, that's true. Mexicans, and even Asians, used it more than whites. There were plenty of minority targets to be had. The government got a lot of "bang for their buck" back then by making it illegal. They loved (and still love) the control it gives them.

But I don't understand the "rightfully blame it on". Blame makes it sound like the plant truly is guilty of something demonic, but I know that isn't what you meant.

Hopefully you don't mean that "Mexican Marihuana makes young white women sleep with Mexican jazz musicians".

Who said you could cure cancer for free by getting high? Please quote those who claimed that.

Maybe he or she means face cancer. Just have someone near you smoke some pot, then in short order your face cancer will be cured for free!

I hope he or she realizes that New Jersey is going to legalize recreational use next year once Christie's out of office.
