Of course, there are paid trolls on CD. Banjo Mike said it best. They appear around election time, tag-team, it's 16-24 hour coverage. Provocative, repetitive whack-a-mole threads and posts no matter how often debunked, intentionally missing the point. I have a huge ignore list, populated heavily with paid posters no longer active.
But there are plenty of current paid posters around, too, with 30 or more posts a day - defending the buffoon Trump who just can't help shooting himself in the foot every single day. These guys have a job as long as Trump says in office - which I regret to say will be for the duration. Country had the misfortune to elect an inept, morally bereft, evil corrupt fool - who was born lucky. Nothin's gonna happen to him.
heck yeah..in fact I'm still waiting for my check from George Soros that some of the posters here told me I was getting for attending the women's march
I find it hard to believe that anyone would think that Republicans would pay someone to post. I get that Soros would pay but I cannot believe the Koch brothers would do the same. Maybe I am wrong about fools and their money though. But my mind is not influenced by idiots posting on a forum.

Hey- if anything changes a few minds, it works.
I'm sure paid posting is a lot cheaper than blanket TV ads in major cities, and a forum like this one gets millions of daily readers who never post at all. It's as good a political tool as any, for sure. For all parties and/or candidates.

True. But I guess when I think of paid posters it is idiots spouting nonsense rather than people trying to change minds with reason.
