WASHINGTON — President Trump asked the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, to shut down the federal investigation into Mr. Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael T. Flynn, in an Oval Office meeting in February, according to a memo that Mr. Comey wrote shortly after the meeting.
“I hope you can let this go,” the president told Mr. Comey, according to the memo.
The existence of Mr. Trump’s request is the clearest evidence that the president has tried to directly influence the Justice Department and F.B.I. investigation into links between Mr. Trump’s associates and Russia.
Only the little Trumpies will be surprised by this. Can't wait for Comey's testimony on this matter in public.
Liar in Chief but hopefully not, for much longer.
I'm thinking that the reason Trump installed such despicable and unsuitable people (with a couple of exceptions) in his cabinet and in other appointed positions, is so he could pull their strings and try to get them to violate the public trust, to serve his own interests.
Trump fans know that this happened. They either don't care or feel like Trump should have this kind of despotic authority since he agrees with them ideologically.
Trump is the leader of one of the world's dumbest and most dangerous cults. His supporters worship him like a deity. The scary thing is this is just the first 100 days, we all know that at some point Trump's Reichstag fire will take place and things will get far, far worse.
Is this what prompted Trump's "there had better not be any tapes!" comments directed at the former Dir of the FBI?
