So far, there's only a small fraction of the stuff on Trump that's been found in comparison to what was present in Nixon's White House.

Trump will have to be tied directly to some real crime to even approach Nixon's criminality. I personally don't think he's done anything that can come close at all to Nixon's turpitude.

All of Nixon's staff, the RNC, and a big wide circle of others, in government and out of government, were all in cahoots in the Watergate break-in and the following attempts to cover it up. And Nixon was right at the center of it all, right from the beginning.

A big part of why the investigation took over a year to conclude was due to the ever-widening circle of those who were guilty in their involvement. Most only knew some of the others, and it all became one huge onion, getting peeled a layer at a time. The longer it was peeled away, the more it stunk.

That's why Nixon resigned before he was impeached. There was so much on him that impeachment would have gone straight to federal criminal charges within 24 hours. Only the final smoking gun wasn't found before then, but it was found, the day after he resigned- irrefutable proof Nixon knew and instigated the break-in. From his own mouth.

That's why Ford pardoned him. The nation couldn't stand any more Nixon hanky-panky, and a criminal trial would have demolished the Republican Party. They had already lost the Vice President to a criminal charge, but Agnew had the good sense to plead guilty and leave quietly in the middle of the night.

Ford did the right thing, but it cost him the Presidency he came to deserve. Gerald Ford was a very reluctant President, but for the time, he was the best one we had in quite a while. He deserved much better, but at least he left office with his honor and integrity intact.

And the rest of those crooks got their just deserts, too. They all went to prison. None got an early out, either.

Trump has a band of brigands as a staff, but they are minor league compared to Nixon's blackhearts.

Potentially this could be worse. In watergate the gop played dirty pool to win an election but they kept it in house. If the trump campaign enlisted a foreign power to that end well that is high treason.

The difference? There was actually EVIDENCE against Nixon. So far not one piece has actually been presented about Trump.

It took years for the evidence on Nixon to come out. And it could take years for Trump.

There is no legitimate comparison, Watergate was about political fixers working for the President who broke into a safe and took medical records to affect a political adversary. The stuff against Trump is mostly that he won and it was Hillary's turn.

Watergate was worse with more concrete evidence. There has been a lot of talk about Trump and Russia, but where is the evidence? Still waiting to hear, or as Sean Hannity says, is this just a witch hunt? Not one bit of evidence has been noted. Are these just distraction to destroy the agenda. I wish they were more concerned about the Loretta Lynch-Clinton tarmac meeting. Now there is evidence.

Americans were different back then and a leader simply didn't lie to the public to the degree Trump has.

So the key difference is what the American public will tolerate.

I think this may be worse than Watergate

Yup. And so far, I can't see a thing on Trump that comes close to approaching the evidence that brought on the investigation.

The bi-partisanship of those hearings was, in my opinion, one of America's finest moments of the 70s. If Howard Baker had been nominated, I would have voted for him in a heartbeat in 1980.

The hearings were also one of Sen. Everett Dirksen's finest hours as well. People nowadays think Robt. Byrd was a great orator, but he couldn't hold a candle to Dirksen. Dirksen popped a dollop of cold cream down his gullet every morning just to keep his pipes mellifluous. I loved that guy.
