But only if you voted for trump and live in California. Apparently he was not referring to non-trump voters within California but opposed to the gas tax. Lol.

That is correct. He was being unfairly specious. It was a crappy thing to say. But he was not referring to all California voters. One only need read the quotes carefully to understand that.

He's going to be quite busy with the NRA and those that oppose this gas tax slush fund.

Actually, if you read the original article, it looks like he was referring to Republican Congressional members opposing the tax.

Did Jerry Brown call California Tax Payers Free Loaders? Not likely. - Fact and Myth
Maybe, maybe nit. From the OC report:

Brown’s pay-as-you-go program has been endorsed by the California Chamber of Commerce and the Orange County Business Council. But while 61 percent of Californians say more money should be spent on road maintenance, 54 percent opposed an earlier, similar version of the plan, according to a January survey by the Public Policy Institute of California.

Gov. Brown defends gas tax, local legislator – Orange County Register

That includes Democrats and has nothing to do with the legislature. As usual the fake, oops sorry the False Media tries to point at Trump, who has nothing to do with it nor Republicans who are a minority in the Legislature, and ignores the 52% that originally opposed it which must include a LOT of "freeloading" democrats I guess..

??? What the heck are you talking about? No one has said this is about pointing fingers at Trump. Brown's comment isn't about Trump. It's about "freeloaders." And what the discussion has turned to in this forum thread is whether Brown was calling California voters "freeloaders" - or was he referring to a specious subset of voters (California Trump voters). And now, with further detail provided by namelesstraveler, it seems that Brown was most likely referring to Trump supporters in Congress.

None of that has any accusations toward Trump himself. Its not about Trump.

At 52% opposed it can't just be CA Trump Voters or supporters in Congress. The site he linked gave its opinion, not including the % of those opposed.

You are right that Trump had nothing to do with it.

I don't know what the people of CA expected when they voted for Jerry Brown. He's long been very liberal and almost never saw a tax increase he didn't support.
And if you think Jerry Brown is a moderate, then you deserve every tax increase you get and more.
