Putin said he had transcripts of the meeting. The Russians are probably slowly leaking information out to the press in order to keep the chaos going in Washington. Trump thought he was doing something by keeping the American press out, but that probably was a big mistake. He and his people were no match for the Russians, they all were spies.

You truly believe that Trump announced to the Russians in front of a room full of witnesses some of whom he must have seen taking notes, as well as Russian media was there, that he fired Comey to obstruct the investigation of all things Russian?

Clearly he was referring to the pressure on him not to pursue relationships with the Russians due to Comey being in the media all the time....i.e. what Trump called "grandstanding and showboating".

If this was true, why would he try to ride this out to his inevitable impeachment and complete disgrace of the Trump name? Why not just resign?
