I honestly don't think Trump has any real political convictions. I think he will do whatever he thinks will benefit him politically the most. While the case can be made that he's more liberal than Pence, from Day One he has run his administration by pandering to the Alt-Right and the evangelicals. I can't think of one "centrist" decision he has made. Even Obama governed from the center early on.

If Trump would act like an adult and govern from the center-right, I think this would be going much more smoothly.

Let's be real here. Trump is psychotic. He made absurd promises. The sad reality is that trump supporters are probably more deranged than trump.
