Mods, please DO YOUR JOB and move this to the politics forum.
This is the WORK and EMPLOYMENT subforum...aka, not the place for partisan hacks to debate policy issues.
I have a feeling a lot of people aren't working because the jobs are only paying $10-$13/hr. Everybody is expecting a job that pays $30/hr but then reality hits them like a ton of bricks. When you pay peanuts, you get nothing. People would rather sit on their couch and live on ss disability or retire early than work for $11 an hour. Can't blame them.
Your 60 years old; got laid off when the plant closed in the early 80s; you took a retraining offer, but just couldn't figure out Windows; you're drinking heavily for relief and feeling worse and worse about life after each binge.

"Some" people would rather sit on the couch and do nothing, but there are others who are actually trying to get these jobs and are not getting hired. Its not always a matter of people not wanting to work.
What exactly do you think a desk job is? Do you really think employers have jobs where people sit at a desk and shuffle paper? These jobs have been replaced with automation.

It's all your fault. Get a job!
Please.....LOL.
You don't even make any sense, someone who is 60 years would have been in their 20s in the early 80s. They get laid off from probably their first job and that's it? Just give up?
So what have they been doing the last 35 years? So they have been drinkin heavily since 1982, must have a lot of money.

People who are on disability cannot work enough to provide for themselves and the employers don't want to hire them anyway.
Around here $10/hr is a good wage and people line up trying to get hired for it. The employer has to offer a job to you in order for you to "take a job."
