As an aside, here's a Canadian who just replaced a '93' full Carrier Ultra High Efficiency HVAC system that was still working well (Freon though) with the newest best efficiency system they had because it was supposedly American made. Guess what? Found out later a significant amount of the system is already manufactured in Mexico BUT so is every other manufacture of residential HVAC.
What can you do if Carrier is forced to compete with that?
Subject for another thread but...
Being a quasi-socialist myself AND believing that we need a Fortress North America similar to Fortress Europe... I think manufacturing in Mexico could be fine if we leveled the playing field. Let Carrier pay the same wages they would pay here and make them follow the same environmental and OSHA(US) regulations US and Canadian companies follow then we all win.
All this offshore production does is increase executive pay. Workers get nothing, nothing but Fox news telling them it's immigrants and welfare's fault!
Also op can you do a little better next time? They said this was coming and then they did it. Not exactly a gotcha moment...plus the left should be happy all these unskilled, Midwest hicks are losing their jobs.
And Trump is working hard to make sure they won't get any food stamps, job training, or health care when they do lose those jobs and the benefits that go with them.
Sad to hear. I felt bad for those people, especially that one union rep who got on Trump's bad side by calling him a liar. I have a lot of sympathy for these types of Trump voters - they're desperate for a change, and desperate for a white knight to undo the economic trends in their industries. Of course they're gonna go all in on the one candidate who actually tries to paint a better picture for them - realistic or not. Hope they'll find another job soon.

Well, he is a career con man who built his real estate empire on the backs of workers he didn't pay and lenders he screwed.
It's unfortunate that they got suckered by him. It's even more unfortunate that they voted against a strong safety net to help them when hard times come and against training to help them succeed in the future.
The simple fact is that Trump never cared. He just saw them as a useful tool to help him get elected. He thought they were desperate and gullible enough to fall for his con, and he was absolutely right.
It's going to be painful for them in the short to medium term, but hopefully they learn something from this and stop pinning all their hopes on con men who sell them false hope and easy solutions that will never, ever materialize.
The sad part is that someone would make such a ridiculous accusation. The far left is not happy about this, this thread is merely pointing out the falsity of Trump's claims that he saved these jobs.
See post #26. The one a bit above this one for your proof.
