The fighting on Mindanao has been going on since the Spanish settled the Philippine islands in the 1500s. Moros fought the Spanish, Moros fought us after we took over from the Spanish, Moros fought the Japanese during the 1942-45 occupation, and the Moros fought the Filipinos after the Philippines became independent in 1935/1946.
The US has many people in direct support in PI.. They/We have been fighting terrorists there for some time..
